To make the most of Athletica, we recommend you connect your wearable via linking Garmin/Strava to Athletica and set up a training plan yet. These two steps are required for us to generate a training plan specific to your target event/race and then to adjust your plan as you go about your training.
Below are the steps involved.
1. Connect Athletica to your Garmin and/or Strava Account
By connecting Athletica to your Garmin Connect &/or your Strava account (if you don’t have Garmin) all your training sessions will be recorded in Athletica in order to optimize your training and adjusted to suit your unique ability and fitness level.
- To do this, simply click on the ‘Settings’ drop down menu and select ‘Connections’.
- This will take you to a screen where you either select Garmin or Strava (or both). Click on the blue button below ‘Connect’ which will direct you to the log in screen for either of your Garmin or Strava account.
- Log in using your Garmin/Strava credentials and enable third party authorisation
2. Set up your training plan
- Under ‘Settings’, select ‘Training’.
- Fill in he details under ‘About You’ such as, what type of race you are training for (Cycling, Running, Triathlon) and how many hours you can realistically allocate to training per week (Low, Mid or High Volume) using the recommended training volume levels as a guideline.
- Note: it is only necessary to fill in the cells with the red asterisk.
- Fill in what races you are wanting to target (up to seven months in advance). Enter the race name, date of race, type (select the training plan most appropriate – i.e. half marathon for 21.1km race), priority (e.g.: A, B or C race).
- If you want to add more races click on ‘Add’ button and follow the step above.
- Note: A race = your target race – the one you are training for. B & C races are races that you are aiming to do in the build up to your target race. B has a higher priority than C.
- Leave ‘Skip Test Week’ blank, which allocates you a test week in your first week of training. Athletica uses these tests to determine your current ability and fitness, thereafter your training intensity is calibrated to your specific ability.
- Click ‘Save and Update Plan’. Allow Athletica a few minutes to generate your plan and then you are good to go.
