If you're syncing both Garmin Connect and Intervals.icu to Athletica with daily health metrics (HRV, Resting Heart Rate, etc.), you may encounter a situation where Garmin health data overwrites the more detailed or accurate data from Intervals.icu — or worse, replaces it with blanks.
This guide explains why this happens, how to prevent health data from being lost, and what setup we recommend for optimal data sync.
The Problem
Garmin Connect often sends incomplete or blank health data if you don't use Garmin for HRV/RHR tracking (e.g., you're using HRV4Training, WHOOP, Oura, or Apple Watch synced to Intervals.icu instead).
When both Garmin and Intervals.icu are connected, Garmin typically syncs last, and overwrites any previously received health metrics — even if they're blank.
Recommended Solution
- Temporarily disconnect Garmin sync: The default Garmin connection includes Garmin health data so you need to reconnect with this setting turned off. Go to your Settings/Connections, configure Garmin and disconnect.
- Reconnect Garmin without Health data: connect Garmin again, but this time, turn off Daily Health Stats
This should now allow your Intervals.icu health data to flow correctly into Athletica and be visible in the Recovery chart. Please allow some time for this to sync correctly with Intervals.icu.
